Do you hear someone mention the disorganized state of their pantry and think of it as a business opportunity? Have you developed the perfect recipe for cream of chicken soup, written a book, started a fashion trend, taught belly dancing, or coached little league? Do you paint pictures, make jewelry, cook gourmet, build houses, design websites, decorate homes, embellish denim? If you have found some way to make your life work by using your creative and intuitive energy, if you have looked life in the face and found a way move forward, if you have figured out that getting results means getting busy, then you are an extraordinary woman!! The Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce is having a dinner for women just like you on Monday, June 4, at 6 p.m.

• A club and a restaurant, in one
Karen White, owner of Julie's Place restaurant and Karen's Catering, both on James Street at the Regency Tower, has the banquet facilities she has always dreamed about. And members of Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club, on Oneida Lake, get to enjoy gourmet, restaurant-quality food. White and her team have taken over the food and beverage operation at the country club, which is on Lakeshore Road in Cicero. When the weather warms, members will be able to come in off the links for "great burgers and sandwiches," White says. Or, she says, they're invited to make a dinner reservation and sit down to some of Julie's signature dishes, such as Caesar salad, pasta pie, Caribbean shrimp, steaks, seafood, chops and other upscale American fare. For weddings and other private parties, the club gives Karen's Catering plenty of room and options, including seating for about 200 in each of two rooms, a smaller room that seats about 60 and a big deck overlooking the lake.
Saved by the AG! - No banning of 'sweet nothings'
The practice of whispering "sweet nothings" in the ears of women was not a fit matter for legislative action, the jocular minister asserted. Committee member Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, supporting that position, was quick to humorously remind the Attorney-General that he himself was "very good at saying sweet nothings!" "You'd be in trouble!" she added, to uproarious laughter. The issue arose, curiously, in the context of a discussion on indecent assault, during the committee's meeting at Gordon House. Dr. Neil McGill, the self-proclaimed "village lawyer" on the committee, asked whether there might not also be "seductive attempts", in which the offender seeks to procure the offence, not by physical force, but by the use of words only. This, he said, might even include "sweet nothings", whispered in the ears of the "victim".
Students Staff Statler
Last Friday evening, while most Cornellians were enjoying the start of a weekend, hundreds of students in the Hotel School were busily cooking, setting tables, perfecting decorations and practicing speeches. The event that was soon to start in the Grand Ballroom of the Statler Hotel, the annual Gala dinner, would host nearly 300 hotel industry leaders for the evening. The dinner was just one of many events that took place over the past weekend as part of the 82nd annual Hotel Ezra Cornell, which brought hundreds of hotel industry leaders to Cornell, and even more hotel students to plan and execute the weekend. Guests paid up to $1250 to be pampered in the hotel, eat gourmet food and participate in seminars relating to the industry. “It's a great way to bring industry leaders to campus," said Arthur Chang '07, managing director of HEC.
