Friends share dinners in all seasons

The word "progressive" can have many meanings, usually related to "progressing, advancing or moving forward, making progress." But how many people in today's busy world connect the concept of "progressive" to a gourmet meal, unless maybe it's moving to new and different restaurants for various parts of one meal?

Bernie and Dolores Fiegel of Lewes were both career workers in the Washington, D.C. - Maryland area employed by a company that had defense contracts. They also had three children. They were busy but still, because of their mutual lifelong interests in good food and good wines, they shared, from time to time, gourmet meals with friends.

Cricket is hot but I miss Jamaica!

Yes! It has been great travelling around the islands looking for great places to eat for cricket. But it has been expensive. Jamaicans are very lucky. And right now, I am missing the land of the Blue Mountains so much, it's unreal. I want a breakfast at Dragon Lounge at Whitehouse, Montego Bay, so bad I can smell the aroma of the greatest liver with 'nuff' food smothered in the thickest gravy ever.

I dream of going to Kingston and hittingMarket Place at least three days in a row - Habibi Latino, Jewel of India and East. As I write this, I could cry thinking of Sunday brunch at the Contemporary Art Gallery on Old Hope Road and a delightful evening meal at Norma's On The Terrace, Devon House. The pumpkin soup, escargot (both with her magnificent bread), oxtail taken up a notch. To top it all, my mouth waters for the crme caramel as dessert.

The Glycemic Gourmet Announces Launch of New Website for Low ...

(PRLEAP.COM) Eating a diet based on low glycemic index (GI) foods is becoming an increasingly popular trend in fitness, dieting, and weight-loss circles, but is still not widely understood or accepted as a more sustainable alternative to traditional calorie counting. In response, The Glycemic Gourmet has launched www.GlycemicGourmet.com with a mission to "Demystify the GI." The website features lists of low glycemic index foods, a shopping list, low glycemic recipes, and tips for sustainably losing weight using low GI principles. "We are very pleased to bring this resource to nutrition and fitness professionals, and the general public alike." said John Somerton, president of Neostorm Inc. and founder of www.GlycemicGourmet.com . "Our mission when we set out was to make the principles and practices of low glycemic index dieting easily accessible to anyone.

Trieste offers unique expressions for the home

Trieste is a city in Italy, and it's also the name of Diane Young's home decorating store in the West Glen Town Center.

Young established Trieste (pronounced Tree-est) in February 2006. The shop is a compilation of furniture, decorating accessories, jewelry, personal products, packaged gourmet foods and gift items for just about anybody on anyone's list. Added to that is a staff of decorators who work with clients in need of advice.

Young, 61, and store manager and Jennifer Stence, 37, answered our questions about Trieste.

Q. Diane, what is the history of the store? Why did you start it?

A. I have been an interior designer for 20-plus years, but in the back of my mind I always wanted a storefront and when I sat in on a meeting about West Glen, I thought, "This could be it." I loved the location and the town-center concept behind it - and having home-furnishings stores on the same street for customers to come to an area where they could shop us all.
