Magazine doesn't look down its nose at everyday cooks

Every foodie has his favorite magazines. Bon Appetit, Saveur, Food Arts and Cook's Illustrated rank highest on my list. Gourmet, Food & Wine, and Martha Stewart Everyday Cooking are must-reads.

And though food snobs may scoff, there's one more magazine I routinely review: Taste of Home, because it reflects how most Americans cook.

Sophisticates are almost obliged to wring their hands over that. Published six times a year, Taste of Home leans heavily on easy techniques and easier-to-find ingredient staples. Here is a magazine not only not shy about, but downright proud of, its willingness to include condensed soups and biscuit mix among its ingredients.

But the proof is in the figurative pudding. Produced by Reiman Publications, based in Greendale, Wis., and recently acquired by Reader's Digest, the magazine resonates with heartland America.

Busy Executives Go Online for Corporate Gifts, Sales Team ...

(openPR) - Rockland, Maine -- Corporate gift-giving is important, but often challenging and frustrating, because of the time it takes out of an already busy day. "Shopping for a corporate gift for a boss, manager, secretary, or company executive has always been stressful for the poor person who gets that assignment," explained Spen Carney, founder of GreatStuffAndThenSome.com. Carney knows how important it is to find a gift that leaves a great impression with the recipient. He created www.GreatStuffAndThenSome.com to make the process simple, inexpensive, convenient, and stress-free. Finding the right sales incentive or reward carries with it the same challenges. The right incentive can motivate an entire sales team to new levels of accomplishment, but the wrong gift can actually turn them off, according to Carney.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (PRWEB) April 17, 2007 -- Pizza Fusion (www.pizzafusion.com), a leader in the organic food industry and a better quality of life, announced the launch of their new Surf & Turf pizza topped with Wild Caught Key West Shrimp, Wild Caught Lobster and certified organic New York Strip Steak. The Surf & Turf pie, valued at $48, is an extension to Pizza Fusion's already unique selection of gourmet specialty pies.

"We're very excited about the launch of the Surf & Turf pizza," Michael Gordon, co-founder of Pizza Fusion, states. "The addition of lobster to our organic and all-natural topping list reinforces our belief that pizza is meant to be enjoyed as a quality, healthful, delicious meal contrary to the negative fast food image that it has been tainted with in the past."

From Pizza Fusion's organic, all-natural ingredients to each individually stamped and signed box reading, "This pizza was made with love by ______", they're setting new standards for the pizza and quick-service food industries with a concerned approach to provide high quality, nutritious food in a timely manner.

Now that I'm interested, he isn't. What's going on?

So, met this guy at an event in late summer. He was interested, I was full of myself and liked having lots of boys interested, so I blew him off. Fast forward to last weekend, where we bump into each other and hit it off like gangbusters. Then last night, where he tells me he is not interested in a relationship with anyone. And he's still angry about the first time we met. And now all I want is to date him.

Illegal chocolate 'Kinder' eggs found in US

Consumer Reports has discovered hazardous and illegal chocolate Easter eggs on shelves in food shops in suburban New York and the Washington, D.C. area.

Kinder Surprise Eggs are hollow chocolate eggs that contain surprise toys. They are made by Italy's Ferrero Group. The eggs are popular worldwide, but they have been banned in the United States by the Consumer Product Safety Commission since 1997 because they could pose a choking hazard to children less than three years of age.

The Ferrero Groups' U.S. arm has fully honored the ban. However, the eggs still manage to make their way into the U.S. stream of commerce and are occasionally available from gourmet food stores, candy merchants, and ethnic importers. Many of the eggs are imported by companies specializing in foods from countries where the product is available legally.
