Easter Basket Recall Announced in Florida

Now that the Easter baskets have been opened, parents and children should be mindful of warnings about certain children's products, according to a Florida newspaper.

Watchdog group Consumers Union have cautioned against the eating of Italian-made Kinder Surprise Eggs, hollow chocolate eggs that contain small toys, according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel. The eggs were banned in the U.S. in 1997 but still make it to stores through gourmet sweet shops, candy merchants and ethnic importers.

In addition, Consumers Union has declared a voluntary recall of about 8,500 Disney plush Easter baskets, whose small ribbons and beads could be considered a choking hazard for small children. The baskets, which are manufactured by Gemmy Industries, are pink and purple plush and themed after the Disney Princesses.

Today's Special: Chicken, Mushroom, and Goat-Cheese Burritos

Isn't it fabulous fun to think outside the box? Generally when making burritos I stick to the usual Tex-Mex inspired ingredients of beans, rice, and pepper jack cheese, but today I was in the mood to jazz things up a bit. Instead of using my usual chicken with tomato salsa and cilantro mixture, how about using mushrooms, green salsa, spinach, and goat cheese? Sound deliciously gourmet? Well it's made with store bought chicken making it easy and quick! I've never had goat cheese on a burrito before, but can imagine that it will be creamy and crumbly. The spinach will add a fresh crunch making this burrito a perfect on the go meal that you can scarf down before you meet the girls for cocktails. Get the recipe and

Richard Ryman column: Dominion seeks OK to build new reactor

Dominion Resources Inc. moves a step closer to being allowed to build a new nuclear reactor with an Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearing Tuesday in Virginia.

Dominion is among a handful of U.S. utilities pursuing government permission to build a nuclear plant. A new nuclear power plant has not been built in the United States in more than 30 years.

The Richmond-based company, which owns the Kewaunee Power Station, filed an application in 2003 for a site in Virginia where it also operates a nuclear power plant.

If approved by the board, the permit would give Dominion between 10 and 20 years to decide whether to build additional nuclear plants at the Virginia site and get Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval to build and operate them.

Dominion has not said it will build a new plant.

Worst of the Week: Slums of Beverly Hills

And welcome to our Thursday column, Worst of the Week. There's a lot of nutty stuff that goes on in this industry, so this column is a chance for us at RCR Wireless News to rant and rave about whatever rubs us the wrong way. We hope you enjoy it!

And without further ado:

So the intense competition between Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile recently was unleashed in Hollywood as both carriers threw bashes celebrating the launch of new devices. Sprint Nextel was pimping the Samsung UpStage at a private residence in Beverly Hills, while T-Mobile was touting its Sidekick iD at an unnamed location in the heart of Hollywood.

These events are nothing new for wireless carriers. Helio threw a similar bash when it launched service, and T-Mobile has a history of throwing a party everytime it launches a new version of the Sidekick, which seems to be weekly.

Monday Morning Soybean Comment

American harvest is hanging over the head of the futures markets as those beans start to come out on the world market. Cash traders are saying they are starting to see this more and more as CIF soy values at the Gulf sunk on Friday as traders turned to So. America for their soybean needs. Weather in So. America remains wet which is slowing the harvest some, but it is helping fill late planted beans which will help increase the already good yields coming out of that area. Market will be waiting for the USDA report released before the opening on Friday, so we should see very choppy trade the rest of the week.

eCBOT market broke lower overnight on increased pressure from So. America and the soybean market following the corn lower. Rain that was forecast over the weekend didnt develop as much as expected, which will be bearish the corn market and the grain complex.
