| Internet, Information About Food and Cooking
JupiterResearch has found the Internet to be an indispensable channel for food advertisers because 50 percent of online users are looking for food and cooking information online. Detailed in a new report, "Targeting Online Food Lovers -- Identifying Segments and Online Advertising Opportunities," JupiterResearch reveals that food advertisers should fully leverage the online channel and explore emerging opportunities around video and mobile content. Advertisers in niche categories including organic foods and gourmet foods must pay particular attention to the online advertising opportunity. Online food lovers that prefer to buy and eat gourmet foods, organic foods and 'good-for-you' foods are significantly more likely to use online food web sites than are online food lovers that say they primarily buy or choose their foods based on price.

Fruits of an education
She wanted to see if she could sufficiently equip one person to experience the wider world of wine. She chose her good friend, Peter Travers, the film critic of Rolling Stone, as her guinea pig, and by sharing the experience with readers as well, she could educate the thousands. Travers is the ideal subject for her tutelage. As a film critic, he had already demonstrated a willingness to make bold and blunt pronouncements about the movies he reviewed. Teague writes: "'This movie stinks' could readily be translated to 'This cabernet tastes like a merlot,' while Travers' finely tuned visual sense of 'The cinematography could be improved' could easily become 'That wine is too white.' As a frequent commentator on television, he projected complete confidence - particularly useful when it comes to dealing with sommeliers - and because he knew so many famous film people, he could, for example, report that Martin 'Marty' Scorsese's favorite wine was Chianti, another tactic for impressing the same sommeliers.
Hot dish: Popcorn and more
The new Greenville Grande 14 movie theater, scheduled to open Friday on Greenville Boulevard near Cracker Barrel, will offer a variety of concessions to hungry movie-goers including pretzels, nachos and pizza. Consolidated Theatres provided a list of menu items and prices for the new theater. Popcorn is a staple at the movies, and the new theater will provide a variety of flavorings patrons may use to customize their snacks. The Kernel Season's Gourmet Popcorn Seasoning flavors that will be offered include white cheddar, nacho cheddar, ranch, Parmesan and garlic, caramel, and sour cream and onion. Popcorn ranges in price from $3.75 for a 46-ounce (small) serving to $6.50 for a 170-ounce bucket. But popcorn's not all. Even modest gun restrictions scare off state lawmakers
Relatively modest, House Bill 1026 would have required private firearms sellers at gun shows to do the same pre-sale background checks now required of gun dealers. "I'm very disappointed. I think there's been a real reluctance by the Legislature to engage in this issue," said Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, choosing his understatement carefully. Reluctance? Gun control has been a jittery skunk in the Legislature's garden party. From trigger locks to background checks to assault weapon bans, gun restrictions find so little positive traction in Washington that most lawmakers, even some urban liberals, aggressively disappear when the issue comes around. Speaker Frank Chopp, a Seattle Democrat, simply refuses to answer questions on gun legislation. Advocates say he won't pressure his caucus, even though Seattle's most infamous shooting, the Capitol Hill murders, happened in his political backyard and the largest mass shooting in U.S.
It's all about the O (organic, that is)
George Archos weaved in and out of the aisles greeting customers, checking on distributors and straightening boxes. Just 27 minutes earlier, Mokena's Fresh Point Market had yet to open its doors to its first customers. Village residents Tara Minyard and Mary Prekwas eagerly waited outside. At noon, the doors opened and a swamp of foodies made their way into the 40,000-square-foot organic and specialty grocery store at 19818 LaGrange Road. "It's been an anticipated opening," Minyard said. Before Fresh Point, Minyard frequented Orland Park's Trader Joe's and the Dominick's Finer Foods in Frankfort. "I like to buy organic foods," she said. Archos, one of the owners and managers of the store, said organic is what people want.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): I was the wife of Vlajko Stojiljkovic, deceased, who was indicted at the Hague War Crimes Tribunal. The funds are in excess of 64 million U.S. dollars. Can you help? Are you trustworthy? I can offer you 30 percent. Please forward your contact info to me a.s.a.p. I am grateful. Glorja.
