| Union Square Bursts into Bloom
Farmers are just now planting seed; if storage potatoes and onions don't scratch your spring foraging itch, greenhouse greens and a profusion of flowering plants, budding fruit-tree branches, cut flowers, and potted herbs should do it. We'll be keeping tabs on seasonal foods at the gourmet markets until local produce is going strong. .
Double the fun of Del Shores in Palm Springs
A Del Shores doubleheader at the newly renovated Palm Canyon Theatre alternates two comedies in repertory programming through April 15. "Sordid Lives," a favorite in the desert, is being reprised. It is directed by William Layne. Don Hillier is directing "Daddy's Dyin' ... Who's Got the Will?" Radio personality Joey English takes the role of a singing ex-con in "Sordid Lives." The story about a family of misfits brought together for the funeral of the matriarch, who died when she tripped over her lover's prosthetic legs and hit her head, has a cult-like following similar to audiences at "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." .
Kasinger Foundation fundraiser features wine, chocolate, jazz
Sweet memories will find expression Sunday in the first Chocolate, Wine and Jazz Fest to benefit the Christina Henry Kasinger Foundation. Mrs. Henry Kasinger, a physical therapist who dedicated her career to serving pediatric patients, died of leukemia March 8, 2005. Her parents, Diana and James Henry of New Bedford, decided to establish a foundation in her name to provide equipment to the pediatric rehabilitation department of the Schwartz Center for Children in Dartmouth. "We just somehow want to keep the memory of her life alive" until her daughter Julia, now 5, "can take over" the effort, Mrs. Henry said. The interest in the Schwartz Center came about through a family connection. While Christina was attending Wheaton College, her niece Shelby was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Go to work on this egg and you'll be late
When the prospect of yet more chocolate at Easter begins to pall, it might be time to get cracking with the goose eggs. For food lovers looking for a change - and with deep pockets - the eggs are going on sale to supermarket customers willing to pay £2.49 a time. But if you intend going to work on this egg, you had better leave plenty of time. As well as being richer, creamier and tastier than its hen-laid counterpart, a goose egg can be three times as big, or roughly the size of a tennis ball. .
