Sweet scent of recovery in West Quincy
Five months after a two-alarm fire tore through the famous Montilio's Bakery in West Quincy, destroying everything from ovens to counter tops, the city landmark has risen from the ashes. On Thursday, the sweet smell of cupcakes, cookies, and Italian pastries wafted down Adams Street once again. "It feels good, it looks good, and our customers are happy," said owner George Montilio, 55, who scanned his store, well known for its gourmet wedding cakes, which have been featured nationally in magazines and on television. The family-owned shop, established in 1947, also made cakes for the inaugurations of presidents John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush at the bakery's first location in Quincy Center. In October, a fire ripped through its walls and ceilings, shutting the store down.
Congorama (2 out of 4)
There's such overload of characters and happenings in Philippe Falardeau's Congorama, that the viewer gets lost in contrivances and inconsistencies. The Montreal director has decided to throw everything and the kitchen sink to tell a comic-drama that is neither involving nor original, just messy. Michel (Olivier Gourmet) lives in Belgium with his Congolese wife Alice (Claudia Tagbo), son Jules (Arnaud Mouithys) and wheelchair-bound novelist father Herve (Jean-Pierre Cassel). Herve confesses to Michel that he's actually adopted and was born in a barn in Quebec, Canada. On a business trip to Montreal, Michel decides to find his roots and ends up in a small Quebec town where he's introduced to Louis (Paul Ahmarani). But something happens, and Falardeau sends the action back to a few days before the accident.

Danika's big day
TEARS welled in the eyes of Danika Schofield's family and friends as her dad tenderly squeezed the young bride's arm before giving her away. The 18-year-old walked up the aisle on Saturday, days before going into hospital for cancer treatment. When Gavin Brown, 20, proposed to her on Valentine's Day the couple planned to get married next May. But when Danika was diagnosed with five tumours in her abdomen they decided to organise their dream wedding in just a month. Danika, who lives in Ramleaze, West Swindon, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in September 2000 and has bravely fought off cancer three times before. And she used her special day at the Ivy Hotel in Wroughton as a chance to remember friends who have died from the disease.
